A short top-down puzzle game prototype made in two weeks for “Games from the Heart” game jam.
The game is obviously rushed—something came up IRL that cut into the final hours of the game jam, so audio and graphics are not as pristine as they could be. I imagine it’s also pretty buggy too. I’m sure there’s plenty of other issues with this release too
Though the game is rushed, I’m still proud of what I did accomplish, especially with being busy due to college. It’s the first project I’ve been able to release in a while, and I’m pretty happy with it. It’s not the highest quality game, and I wouldn’t normally release a game with unfinished graphics, but for the sake of the game jam (and perhaps for its legacy too), this game will suck as much as it currently does.
I apologize for the audio. I know the audio is terrible. It was a last-minute addition I felt was necessary to include.
Regarding softlocks, there are only two that I know exist—one in the second and third levels each. The one in the second level can be achieved by placing the rock on the left side of the yellow gates then shooting the yellow flower to re-enter the right side. The third level’s softlock can be achieved by moving the rock up above the middle wall in the right-hand room, then shooting the lantern to re-enter the area below the wall. I apologize for these—I was running out of time and wanted to ensure I could get a complete game out first. (There were many, many more softlocks that I caught and was able to fix—these two are just ones I couldn’t fix in time.) If you find any more, please let me know—I’m still exploring these puzzle mechanics.
This game was a submission to the “Games from the Heart” game jam. Though it’s really not apparent in this release of the game, all the mechanics and themes are all relevant to what I’m going through emotionally right now. Put simply, I don’t know if I could’ve made this game without the prompt from the game jam.
Again, thank you for playing, and thank you for your support. Even if you’re just taking a look at my game’s page, that still really means a lot to me.
Thank you. <3
